Smelly to smiley

 

Memories are the treasure of life.  They are part to our existence. Bad memories are lessons to be learned and good memories are the fragrance that fills our life. It was some time back, my father worked in a government organization and so we had lived most part of our life in government accommodations. I very clearly remember due to some official exigency my father was ordered to shift in another residence situated in a hospital compound. 

It was old house which had remained locked for past one year. The day we went there for initial cleaning purpose, it was in much dilapidated condition with horrible stench in every room. The cleaning process went in for almost a week, and we shifted thereafter doing up a small puja.

Even after days of living there the obnoxious smell never left us. Incense sticks, room freshener, perfume deodorants were sprayed regularly to avoid embarrassment. It was very much difficult locating the origin of that stench. Then one fine day as repair work was going on in the attic, it was found out that a dead cat and quite a number of dead rats were stuck there. It was all cleaned up and that part of attic was closed permanently to avoid such incidence in future. We were relaxed as the stench was removed. With a sigh of relief we could now welcome our guests for get together.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. A neat and clean house is always warm and welcoming.  Maintaining hygiene is equally important, just spraying room freshener will not help. Practicing healthy habits will bring in sweet fragrances of freshness, like keeping unwashed or dirty clothes in laundry bag, wet clothes should be dried, keeping the toilets clean and flushing off after use, disposing the waste properly, covering the dust bin, keeping the house rodent free,  installing exhaust fans, washing hands, feet and face after coming home,  will  And to get rid of smells which come as a result of daily household chores, we have ambi pur, which doesn’t just covers odours, it completely removes them.
