Babies are tiny little creatures, a
great bundle of joy for the entire family. You can never get enough of them.
Their gentle touch, twinkling eyes, cutest lips and the tiny feet can melt
wildest of hearts.
As we grow, get married, at some point
of time we feel that irresistible desire to have a progeny. You want someone to
whom you get back after work, you want someone whom you can pamper umpteen
times, and you want someone to Sparkle and rekindle rest of your life.
It’s a natural urge to be parents. But
some are not lucky enough to experience such bliss. There are a many childless
couples. And one was my Cousin. After all the failed results of regular follow
ups with medical experts, they finally decided to adopt a child. It took almost
a year to find a right place, fulfill all the requirements and finally their
turn came. It was 23rd October 2014; the nurse came and kept a tiny
little princess of almost 8 – 9 months on my cousin’s lap. A beautiful baby
girl. She had the prettiest smile, but worse part was her skin, she had some
itchy rashes on skin. Straightaway we
went to the pediatrician to get her check up done. It was nothing to worry and
the doctor prescribed some baby ointments as well as gave some general
suggestions to keep baby skin soft and infection free. Within a month the skin
healed and rashes got disappeared, and she became apple of everyone’s eye.
Babies are the heart beat of families
and when it comes to their skin we need to be a little extra careful with
respect to following:
Baby care products: - A huge array of baby care products
is available in the market. Their packaging, fragrance, feel is so
irresistible, that sometimes we end up buying these fancy items for our kids.
But here we need to exercise some caution. When buying for kids consider
natural ingredients (some natural products can also cause irritation but using
natural product is at least a step in right direction), avoid products with
strong fragrance as they are made of complex chemical combination and thus
level of allergens and irritants in them can be higher. Try milder products for
baby skin as well as baby laundry. Simpler products mean reducing your child’s
overall chemical exposure.
Some simple home remedies like mix of glycerin and rose water, mix of
almond oil with yoghurt, can also be tried but again with carefulness regarding
adulterated good quality brand, and also being attentive that child doesn’t
ingest any of the topical applicant.
(If you feel your child’s skin is over
sensitive, try out this simple step before using out any new topical
application, put a small quantity of it on baby’s arm and watch it out for a
few hours to see if any reaction)
Weather: - Pertaining to extremes of weather
condition these days, we need to cover our kids with loving shield.
Mild exposure to Sun is really
beneficial for kids, just avoid direct sunlight, and keep them covered with
loose fitting soft clothes. Avoid sunscreen till at least the baby is more than
7-8 months. Avoid taking then out in the hot summer sun. Whenever in sun keep the eyes protected from
direct rays.
During winters keep them sufficiently
covered including hands and the skin well hydrated with a good moisturizer.
Diaper Care: - Invent of diapers is a blessing
for kids as well as parents. The bottom of kids needs to be clean and dry to
avoid any infection or rash. Keep changing the diaper on regular basis. Before
putting on a new one clean the bottoms with lukewarm water let it dry and then
apply diaper cream, keep it open for a while and then wrap on a new one. Carefully
designed pamper premium baby pants are available in market which has a soft waistband, is super dry and absorbs quickly, allowing the skin to
breathe, remain soft and healthy.
Also in between give baby diaper free time with
just towel or cotton cloth around, a few minutes to hours every day.
Baby Bathing: - New born babies do not need much
bathing and washing. Do not be unnecessarily obsessed with cleanliness, a
gentle sponge bath of bottom and genital is ample. Use mild scent free
products. Use lukewarm water. Wipe face and eyes with clean and soft wash cloth
or cotton. If needed to apply soap or
shampoo mix it well with water and gently apply it with wash cloth.
Moisturizing and Massages: - Oil massages are really good for
baby. Try doing it after bath, it keeps
moisture intact and skin remains hydrated. Select oil carefully, apply thin
layer and it should be well absorbed. Thick, unabsorbed layer of oil will cause
sweating and skin irritability especially in warm - humid weather.
Guarded Protection: - The environment we live in is
under extreme menace of pollutants. Climatic as well as societal atmosphere is
getting threatened. We need to keep our babies tugged closest to our hearts,
loving these cute beings with our purest thoughts and maintaining positivity we
need to grow our tiny creatures into mentally and physically strong
individuals.
“Pampers brings you the softest ever
Pampers Premium Care Pants. Its cotton-like softness is #SoftestForBabySkin and allows it to breathe, thus
