Victim of Suicide

Top Post on IndiBlogger

“I am heading to the darkest road
I have stumbled and fallen with none to care
I have lost the strength and all the flare
I am the black sheep, I bring all shame
The grief and agony sets my eyes aflame
I wear the garland of broken dreams
I am a failure, I hear the scream
My life is sailing the rocky stream
I reached the shore and lay silent
Bygone are ambitions and all the hope
My face is pale and eyes are closed
Shriveled my being beauty no more
Adieu dear friends as I leave for my eternal sleep”.

In the news, every other day we get to hear of somebody committing suicide. This is indeed a sad state of affair. A depressed person or somebody who is feeling low needs just a supporting arm. A calm reassurance and moral support is all to sail a stormy sea of emotions. Our busy schedule, over ambitious nature eats up all of our time. In our unsatisfied nature and the desire to achieve more wealth we fail to realize that someone next door, someone close to us is suffering silently. Extend your helping hand it costs nothing, just a mix of love and care.

“When children start committing suicide, it means we are doing something fundamentally wrong in the society”.

  1. The fundamental thing that we are collectively doing wrong is discarding mental diseases which includes depression, inferiority complex, insecurity due to peer pressure. As if to the society, these are mere excuses for failures. Very well written poem :)

  4. It is tragic to see someone refuse to live.....and society is responsible in one way or the other....Helping someone through depression and low-esteem can prevent such tragedies to a great extent.

  5. Nicely expressed. The signs of depression in an individual are all visible to the near and dear,if they care to watch.Prompt and proper counseling would save many lives.Suicide is no remedy but an act of cowardice.

    1. Yes, these signs are clearly visible only if one bothers to watch. Immediate support and care can do wonders in saving lives.

  7. Nice post. Today there is lot of stress and many aren't able to cope up with such situations.

I once saved a person on the verge of death by suicide.

But I could not save my best friend from committing suicide. I never knew about it until it was too late. There was not even a hint of what was on my friends mind. To this day even after several years, I still feel so sad about the loss and wastage of a young life.

When ever I get an opportunity, I try talk to young people addressing this issue and how to cope life in general with its ups and downs.

Parents, teachers, relatives and friends should address this issue.

In our country, sadly depression is looked down as mental illness and ridiculed upon.

Everyone should realise how great life is and how trivial our problems are. At least most of the so called problems are.

    1. I really appreciate that you could save a life from clutches of suicide, and also feel sad about your friend.
You are right by saying that Parents, teachers, relatives and friends should address this issue.
In spite of ridiculing a depressed person we should extend our helping hand.

  9. Recently came across this:

    Do not commit suicide
    Just uninstall whatsapp
    Deactivate facebook
    Turn off your mobile
People will think you are dead

Jokes apart, the moment we recognize suicidal tendency in someone, we should take action with expert help if required, without any delay
