Health hazards and Awareness

The issues like health, wellness, and good diet are gaining lots of importance and prioritize in our need of happy life. One such topic not much spoken of in public is sexual health but it stands equal importance and many of us realize it. There is lot of shyness, stigma and hush- hush attached to it. People try to keep their sexual problems a hidden secret no matter how much they must be suffering because of it.

For last two years I worked with a NGO on a program whose main focus was spreading awareness among people on usage of condoms and its triple protection benefits i.e. as a contraceptive, prevention from HIV/AIDS and STD/STI. And to my surprise I found how people even youngsters are so unwilling to talk about it. There is a lot of stigma attached to it. We all need it; we all use it but are not prepared to talk about it because of the mental block. We are not ready to educate ourselves and others about it. One more surprising fact came before me during this field work that there are many people who are unable to use condom properly like they are reusing it, they use oil with it, they couldn’t wear it properly and it gets pricked or torn  but still they used it. Through mass media campaigns our educators used to provide demo with condom learning models on its correct usage.

In the program we used to organize camps, Folk shows- Magic Show, Street Plays, condom Rallies at prime locations like India Gate, universities, railway stations, bus stands, market places etc., Our project even focused on making condoms available at all possible outlets, shops etc.

Condoms can now be purchased online, different varieties and brands are available just on click of a mouse.
India still shows a rising trend in HIV infection and along with it the biggest drawback is people get to know about the infection when it has reached the advanced stages, though lots of efforts are going on but still sometimes for patient it gets difficult to bear high cost of treatment. The best possible treatment of this menace is prevention.  With so much health hazards in the present environment - ‘be alert and cautious’ is the mantra.

People sometimes laugh, mock and pass unhealthy comments but we know awareness and understanding is the best way to help nation prevent all sorts of health menace. We need to broaden our horizons and think with a better understanding otherwise hazards like HIV/AIDS will completely engulf our planet. “Together we can and together we will”- fight against all evil entering our lives.

Good Health

The times are changing, technology is advancing fast, and newer innovations are making our life simpler and easier. Amid the Hi - tech life we lead, the thing most compromised in our schedule is eating a healthy diet. Now what is the healthy diet- It is taking up a nutritious meal having sufficient essential nutrients, which include vitamins, proteins, essential amino acids, calories, calcium, fluid etc.

How many of us are taking up a healthy wholesome breakfast? How many of us eat fruits daily? Are we taking sufficient amount of water daily? The answers we know are mostly negative. We work hard day and night, after a tiring day in the office we try to give in our hundred percent at homes. But why do we all ignore the most important aspect of our lives that is our health. Recently due to stressful routine and late working hours, I noticed that every day I was missing my breakfast. My health deteriorated I felt low and was having headaches very day. My working output decreased and targets remained unfulfilled. This is my personal experience; there is no substitute to a healthy balanced diet. To be most productive and happy we need to take proper meals. Include green vegetable, fruits, whole grains, legumes and dairy products on regular basis in your diet. Avoid junk food as much as you can. In fact eating a healthy balanced diet helps keeping weight under control, it improves our immunity, we remain energetic and our spirits remain high. It keeps our mood positive.

Crash diets are very harmful for our body. If continued for longer duration it can lead to serious problems in future. No doubt, crash diets results in rapid weight loss as eating less and limited will allow body to burn up stored calories, but these diets results in nutritional deficiencies. If we do not take sufficient nutrients in our diet various health concerns may come up like – lowness, depression, irritability, anxiety, pain in joints due to calcium deficiency, dull skin, hair loss, menstrual problems, and unnecessary metabolic changes. It may even lead to disordered eating habits like anorexia or bulimia.

The best way to start your day this summer- is a spoonful of Dabur Honey with a glass of warm water. Honey Diet has a lot of goodness like weight management, sugar substitute, a good source of energy, it nourishes skin, a remedy for cold and cough and it even helps with digestion. Dabur Honey can be added to various snacks, beverages and deserts making up a healthy honey diet.

This life is a gift of God, why not live it in a proper way, respect your body and its need. Eat wisely and never starve yourself, depriving yourself of necessary nutrients will do more harm than good. To remain fit and healthy one should eat healthy food and do regular exercise. Accept your body type, be happy, be creative and take up yoga lessons. This is the best mantra for a good life.

Surf it All! Surf it Fast!

Cricket is one of the most loved sport in our country. People follow it like religion. During my growing up years I have seen my brother playing cricket day and night. He had the complete cricket kit. He even successfully participated in many of cricket tournaments. Now same with my husband he is a complete cricket enthusiast. He can never afford to miss any of the matches being played. Whenever India is playing he is glued to television set, and one cannot dare to get hold of remote during matches.

My husband is a die heart cricket fan. It sometimes gets really annoying and frustrating to see him hooked to television screen especially during continuous matches. He would even ignore the important household chores or important conversations while listening to the cricketing commentaries. Ones he had even kept on ignoring and postponing getting important paper work done for LPG connection that we had missed out the deadline and had to wait for another long period to get it done, all because cricket world cup was going on at that time and he didn’t wanted to miss any of the match moments. Missing family get together, picnics, movies, and parties during cricket matches had become like a routine in my house until one day I came to know about UC Browser, it is the best of all. It is fast and gives wonderful web experience.

The present generation is highly technology savvy. It has really advanced and has reached zenith. Things which were ones hard to believe have become a reality now. It is ever progressing and if continued to use judiciously and cautiously it is a great boon for us. Technology has given remedy to most all of our ailments. U C Browser with best technology provides uninterrupted cricket service, videos, live scores and latest news etc.  Though my husband was a bit reluctant to use this service as he enjoys his game most on television screen, but since I have downloaded the UC Browser for him, he is indeed happy to use its smooth service. He can enjoy his scores, shots, updates with just a tap on screen.  Thanks to the UC Browser we do not have to miss any further personal events. He can browse UC Cricket anytime from anywhere to keep himself updated of the scores. Its video quality is seamless and much smooth, so there are no chances of any interruption in between. It gives featured match reminders, quick info, score card, comments and a search bar too for any additional info. It’s fun to use it as UC Browser provides with the best quality with all the comfort.

My husband can now remain connected to his game with the help of UC Browser, he can surf UC cricket from anywhere without losing and missing any of his personal connections.

Life, Love & Destiny....

Those solemn ties with promises in heart,
What my soul felt was a ceremony at large.

Those honest connections with innocence in heart,
What my lips whispered was the rhythm to start.

Those pleasing cuddles with yearnings loud,
What my eyes found was the angel in crowd.

Those loving glance and melodious songs,
What melts my heart was the hug so strong.

Those memories of spring, when flowers bloom,
What blossomed my heart was holding your hand.

Those winds and drizzling and soothing the hot,
What soaked me over was the love all above.

Embracing each other one sweet November,
We took the vows to never depart.

That cold December played the evil,
What pulled us away was the devil in disguise,
Leaving our heart burning with passion…..

When love is so pure then why lovers part?
The game of destiny and puppet we are,
Fulfilling duties with a purest heart,
Sharing, caring we walk ahead…………

Fair - Unfair

This is the story of my friend a very close friend. We were buddies we used to play together, eat together and study together. We were in same school and same class. Her name is Radha. She is tall, has a round face with very beautiful eyes.  She was intelligent and scored highest in board examination and won many scholarships. She worked hard day and night, completed studies and got a very deserving placement in a reputed firm.

But with all these highs she had to bear the lowness entrusted upon her by the society. Her paternal aunt nicknamed her ‘Gulab Jamun’ as she loved them and she had a dark complexion. Her brother used to tease her that eating more of dark chocolate will further darken her complexion.  Many suitors refused marrying as her complexion didn’t matched their standards. Thus making her family members annoyed. Radha was ridiculed by her own near and dear ones.

With all this negativity surrounding her she has started feeling neglected. She is gradually falling into extreme state of dullness and melancholy.  Though I am there to support her at every step but how can I help her alone, it is very difficult as every other advertisement on television promotes fairness creams. These advertisements show that people of darker skin are losers with no happiness, no confidence and no friends, but fairer skin can make them stars overnight.

Adding to the horror is the people promoting such advertisement, they are so called youth icons, top celebrities, top brands whom we often hear talking about ‘equality’. Does publicizing fairness creams has anything to do with equality?

Even I am the one with a darker skin and have heard people teasing and making fun of my complexion but rather than getting nervous I pity on the limited understanding and perception of these people who associate fair skin with happiness and success.

It also gets really annoying whenever I am at supermarket purchasing cosmetics; I am always unnecessarily approached by these sales girls forcing me to try whitening creams and fairness products. But thankfully I have never tried any of them as I am happy with my complexion.

Success and happiness comes from our hard work and honest deeds. That is what I am following since childhood and will stick to it forever.

It is absolutely right that a healthy skin is an index to our overall health but it’s wrong to associate health skin with fair complexion.

People need to educate themselves, arise, awake from this limited reasoning. Instead of promoting useless things, encourage good health. Skin is the largest organ of our body, counsel people about healthy skin.

There are young girls I see around who have not even reached teenage, having extreme fetish for fair skin their icons are Kareen Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, not because of their hard work and determination but because these celebrity look perfect in fair skin.

Where are we heading to? Are we giving the coming generation some sort of restricted sensibilities?

We should stop advocating things that are harmful and start propagating values, good health, education and hard work. Doing so will indeed result in true happiness and a better world.
