To be healthy

Fried potatoes with extra layer of red chillies, puris and kachodi, Mango pickles, Tomato ketch up, Mint chutney and jalebi for sweet is the usual breakfast menu of my home during Sunday or any holiday in between the week.  My in laws are a great foodie people; they have a good appetite for fried and spicy food, they can gorge on, digest well like a true Punjabi. Even I belong to a Punjabi family but breakfast at my home was oats, porridge, poha, brown bread, egg etc.

During initial days of my married life I managed my best to avoid such heavy food, everybody would just comment that I don’t eat well, I continued with oats or cornflakes and sometimes Poha. But it was tough convincing my husband to switch his eating habits to a more healthy diet. But my hard work somehow paid well, He is the one now eating a more healthy food and I cheat on some stuffed paranthas.

The problem is we are not aware about the importance of health. We don’t know the wonders of healthy eating. Our complex routine, life style keeps us so occupied that we end up eating food with nil nutritive values. We keep on adding extra layer of unhealthy fat. We can sit for hours watching movie, television but cannot spend even half an hour on a tread mill.

Eating healthy and working out regularly can do wonders on our body. It not only sculpts our body but is also good for our mental well being. It helps building up our overall stamina. It was last week when I visited my husband’s cousin sister. Her husband is not doing well; doctor diagnosed gastroenteritis and he was on some medications. To my surprise I found him eating samosa when we reached their home. The explanation was- his mouth tasted badly so he needed some chat pata snack.  I laughed at the first sight but ended up scolding him at this stupidity. Why we take our bodies, our own health so lightly?  Are the taste buds much dominating?

Sports, Health, Fitness is much addictive in a good way, just be a little disciplined and follow well.

(être en bonne santé  -  to be in good health, to be healthy)

Softest For Baby Skin

Babies are tiny little creatures, a great bundle of joy for the entire family. You can never get enough of them. Their gentle touch, twinkling eyes, cutest lips and the tiny feet can melt wildest of hearts.

As we grow, get married, at some point of time we feel that irresistible desire to have a progeny. You want someone to whom you get back after work, you want someone whom you can pamper umpteen times, and you want someone to Sparkle and rekindle rest of your life.

It’s a natural urge to be parents. But some are not lucky enough to experience such bliss. There are a many childless couples. And one was my Cousin. After all the failed results of regular follow ups with medical experts, they finally decided to adopt a child. It took almost a year to find a right place, fulfill all the requirements and finally their turn came. It was 23rd October 2014; the nurse came and kept a tiny little princess of almost 8 – 9 months on my cousin’s lap. A beautiful baby girl. She had the prettiest smile, but worse part was her skin, she had some itchy rashes on skin.  Straightaway we went to the pediatrician to get her check up done. It was nothing to worry and the doctor prescribed some baby ointments as well as gave some general suggestions to keep baby skin soft and infection free. Within a month the skin healed and rashes got disappeared, and she became apple of everyone’s eye.

Babies are the heart beat of families and when it comes to their skin we need to be a little extra careful with respect to following:

Baby care products: - A huge array of baby care products is available in the market. Their packaging, fragrance, feel is so irresistible, that sometimes we end up buying these fancy items for our kids. But here we need to exercise some caution. When buying for kids consider natural ingredients (some natural products can also cause irritation but using natural product is at least a step in right direction), avoid products with strong fragrance as they are made of complex chemical combination and thus level of allergens and irritants in them can be higher. Try milder products for baby skin as well as baby laundry. Simpler products mean reducing your child’s overall chemical exposure.
Some simple home remedies  like mix of glycerin and rose water, mix of almond oil with yoghurt, can also be tried but again with carefulness regarding adulterated good quality brand, and also being attentive that child doesn’t ingest any of the topical applicant.
(If you feel your child’s skin is over sensitive, try out this simple step before using out any new topical application, put a small quantity of it on baby’s arm and watch it out for a few hours to see if any reaction)

Weather: - Pertaining to extremes of weather condition these days, we need to cover our kids with loving shield.
Mild exposure to Sun is really beneficial for kids, just avoid direct sunlight, and keep them covered with loose fitting soft clothes. Avoid sunscreen till at least the baby is more than 7-8 months. Avoid taking then out in the hot summer sun.  Whenever in sun keep the eyes protected from direct rays.
During winters keep them sufficiently covered including hands and the skin well hydrated with a good moisturizer.

Diaper Care: - Invent of diapers is a blessing for kids as well as parents. The bottom of kids needs to be clean and dry to avoid any infection or rash. Keep changing the diaper on regular basis. Before putting on a new one clean the bottoms with lukewarm water let it dry and then apply diaper cream, keep it open for a while and then wrap on a new one. Carefully designed pamper premium baby pants are available in market which has a soft waistband, is super dry and absorbs quickly, allowing the skin to breathe, remain soft and healthy.
Also in between give baby diaper free time with just towel or cotton cloth around, a few minutes to hours every day.

Baby Bathing: - New born babies do not need much bathing and washing. Do not be unnecessarily obsessed with cleanliness, a gentle sponge bath of bottom and genital is ample. Use mild scent free products. Use lukewarm water. Wipe face and eyes with clean and soft wash cloth or cotton.  If needed to apply soap or shampoo mix it well with water and gently apply it with wash cloth.

Moisturizing and Massages: - Oil massages are really good for baby.  Try doing it after bath, it keeps moisture intact and skin remains hydrated. Select oil carefully, apply thin layer and it should be well absorbed. Thick, unabsorbed layer of oil will cause sweating and skin irritability especially in warm - humid weather.

Guarded Protection: - The environment we live in is under extreme menace of pollutants. Climatic as well as societal atmosphere is getting threatened. We need to keep our babies tugged closest to our hearts, loving these cute beings with our purest thoughts and maintaining positivity we need to grow our tiny creatures into mentally and physically strong individuals.

“Pampers brings you the softest ever Pampers Premium Care Pants. Its cotton-like softness is #SoftestForBabySkin and allows it to breathe, thus keeping baby’s skin soft and healthy, and your baby happy. ”

The front side of my maternal house in Bareilly had a big ground and every evening all the children from neighborhood would come  and we used to spend a good two to three hours playing, various sports like badminton, football, cricket etc. Those were the times when we were crazy for cycling, playing outdoor game. “The Joy of dancing”

Dancing is liberating
Dancing is exhilarating
Dancing sets my spirit free
Dancing is my connection with the almighty
Dancing is my love for life
It heals my wounds
It caresses my soul

“Dancing brings me the very clear memories of my childhood, when I used to learn Kathak. Those were my happy moments. Along with few of my friends I used to go to the dance center. It used to be such an awesome feeling, wearing ghungroo and moving the feet entwined to the beats of Tabla.

Grown up, studies completed and now married. Juggling between home and office, no time is left to continue my love for dancing. Dancing has reduced to random steps at some marriage or functions. I am an ardent fan of all the forms of  Indian classical dance. For me it exudes vibrancy. It has beautiful expressions.

Aware of my liking for dance one of my friends recently told me about this site “the dance bible”. It has all the details one wants to know about dance. It has comprehensive collection of records as well as one can ask anything about dance in the forum, it is the best place where you can actively network and put up queries.

The basic aim of this site “the dance bible” is to promote all kind of dance forms and create awareness amongst dance enthusiast regarding dance anatomy, dance styles, blogs on dance, freelancing, schools, history, various techniques, choreographers, biographies, health – nutrition, upcoming events, interviews and lot more.

Another interesting feature is the Portfolio, in it a dancer can create their own profile elaborating on their own dance story, inspiring others, uploading photos and videos of dance. This is the best way one can network and promote their talent to a worldwide audience and also get to meet likeminded dancers in the entire  process.

“The dance bible” is a unique, one of its kind, very entertaining as well as informative. You can also join it on facebook.
This site is a wonderful medium to connect us with dance, All you need to do is just a simple sign up process and “the dance bible” is all yours.

Beautiful Sunset @ Goa

"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky"
- Rabindranath Tagore
