Bridal Mehndi

The promises of heart
The thread of love
Union of souls
The blessings from heaven
The bond so strong
Companions forever”

Indian weddings are full of celebration and splendid display. It is like one such mega event in every body’s life. Catering, decor, wardrobe, gifts, guests are looked after with utmost details and care. The bride and the groom are apple of everyone’s eye. Their personal grooming is one thing that is also taken care of with much precision. Weddings are the time to get pampered and feel special. And one thing that cannot at all be ignored is the bridal mehndiIt comes in various styles and designs these days. My personal favorite is the Arabic Mehndi.

Almost a year back I went for my friend’s wedding in Goa, it was a destination wedding. It was going to be a week-long celebration.  Having helped my friend with all the bridal packing, finally the day arrived when we had to fly to Goa. I was super excited as it was my friend’s wedding, and for the first time I was attending a wedding in Goa.

Taking care of all the details and the booking, the one thing we all had missed was mehndi. And it was going to be a tough job finding an expert in Goa who would apply mehndi. The search began and we went to the best beauty salons to find one. At the end of the day though we selected a specialist with best mehandi design but she was already booked for some ladies kitty party. She agreed to send her junior for our function, but it would not be up to the mark. We group of friends decided to request the kitty party ladies if they could help us by sending the specialist for the bride. Contrary to our apprehensions they willingly agreed.

Ceremonies begun and the mehndi night was super fun, a relative of my friend applied some very amazing mehndi design on other ladies and the bridal mehndi was by the specialist. It looked very beautiful. That night I saw a special charm on the face of bride. She glowed like never before. It was probably the bridal glow mixed with the blessed colors of mehandi.

Mehndi for a bride brings along special sentiments and feelings. Mehndi along with being medicinal also is the harbinger of love and romance between the newly wed. It’s fragrance when combined with lemon and clove acts as an aphrodisiac.  Divine are our rituals and blessed are the solemn ties of marriage.

  2. I too love the Arabic Mehendi. As you said it, it entails a lot of feelings and sentiments for a bride that is associated with Mehendi right from inscribing her hubby's name on it. :')

  5. I love mehndi but it is relegated to very special occasions of late. Mostly I can hardly find the time to keep it on for long.
