Save Water, Save Life

The heat is intense and my lips have parched
Dry wind engulfs as I walk ahead.
The green is perishing and the rivers seek mercy..”

May and June seems like the busiest month of my life,  deadlines to finish up MBA assignments, proceeding with exams of my third semester, targets and deadlines in office, some important family functions to attend along with that frequent  visits to my doctor, laboratories, is making me insane.

With all these activities going on in my life, leaving no time for me to sit and relax, I have been doing all possible effort to be productive most of the time. And in my endeavor to save every second of my life, I have been losing and wasting something very precious, irreparable and lifesaving. This is my self-introspection, analysis of my not so good and unproductive activities. Please read ahead.

Waking up hurriedly in morning and brushing my teeth, I had left the tap open; I could have used water in a mug.

Adding to my woes, the maid got sick with flu, had to give her a week’s leave. Washing the utensils early morning, in my habitual hurriedness I spilled extra water all over the slab and floor. Warning my maid always to be cautions with water, I used much more than required quantities of water.

Getting ready for the office I had left the tap open to fill up my bucket and went to iron my shirt and as I came back running, the bucket was overflowing with water.
Watering the plant in my terrace I overfilled the pots, not checking how much water they need.
I usually sit in my room with my laptop, television, tube light, fan, A.C in the power on mode and sometimes even leave the room without switching them off, though not always but I have noticed myself doing this last week.

These pointers make me think and re think – Am I a responsible citizen?  Am I practicing myself the good things that I preach?  The answer is ‘NO’. But I am a believer, with hopes, it’s never too late. But if we don’t realize and act now it’s actually going to be too late. At a very fast speed we are losing something most important and precious. i.e. Water. Many act of our day to day life contribute to this destruction. We work hard day and night all our life, in the end we shall leave behind a plush apartment with latest technology for our kids, grandkids, but will survival be possible for them with no water to drink?

Many places around the globe have started facing acute water shortage, and if we are fortunate enough to get sufficient water for our use, we should feel blessed and preserve, protect this most needed resource.

My First Expert

My Mom & Me
Women are blessed by the almighty to be able to create a life within them. It is a divine feeling to be able to give birth and welcome a new life in this world. But with motherhood comes a powerful responsibility of raising a child in to a capable and responsible citizen as it is said "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle Is the Hand That Rules the World ".

A mother is the first guide, teacher, coach, friend to a child. The first expert for the child in all regards. She has the best solutions to all our woes. I had stumbled, fallen, failed, faced low times but I always had my relief in ‘My Mother’, she is my confidant. I have very fond memories of my childhood with my mother where she has stood like a pillar protecting me, in fact not only childhood till today my mother is my anchor.

She is the most beautiful person and has wonderful ways of advising and administering, lifesaving remedies to all our problems big or small. There are not one but numerous incidents when mother would hold the hand and take me out of all the worries.

She kissed me and hugged me tight when I had fallen from the swing and broke my bone.
She wiped my face when I had my first big fight with my best friend.
I am of a nervous constitution; during exams she would bless me and keep cheering my mood. She would always encourage me whenever I scored low.
She is the one person, who would bear my unbearable tantrums, teenage - mood swing, like an expert she helped me with personal control and managed all my disagreements.
She is the strength to the entire family, kept us united, protected during all our days of adversity.

She controlled and gathered the ruins of my broken soul, when my marital life was about to collapse. She counseled, supported and guided well. She saved us.
Providing my siblings and me with all the love, care, hugs, kisses and protection, mother gave strength, courage, independence, autonomy and power to face the world as a responsible person. Her multidimensional expertise taught us to be patient, understanding, humble, honest, disciplined and hardworking.

From my teething woes as an infant to stammering issue’s when I started speaking,
From my fear of going to school as a young kid, to my examination anxiety and fear of results as a young adult,
All my dietary issues even my teenage love pangs,
Controlling my fears of going to another city for higher studies as well as managing funds for it,
Patiently listening to my never ending career related apprehensions along with working hard to finding a companion for me.
Sidelining her own problems, age related health concerns, she is always available or rather always beside me, protecting and supporting me.

My mother is my backbone, my pillar of strength. She will forever be my first expert.

The Angel in Disguise

Mothers are the blessings of God. Their care, love, strength is unconditional and insurmountable. The bond and attachment of mother and a child is divine. And this special relationship starts as a woman conceives, from fertilization, implantation to the development of embryo and undergoing all the awesome stages of pregnancy, the attachment keeps on gaining strength and more strength.

Mothers are the creators of love and compassion. Their power and stability is unmatched. And one such woman I like to admire is my mother in law. She is a symbol of extreme strength. Having undergone acute crisis in her life, she came out to be a winner. Losing her husband at a very young age, to the calamities of time, left with two small kids to look after all alone, was her destiny. But she fought, worked harder, kept all her faith in God, with hopes intact, and raised her kids with virtues of courage, prudence, respect and honesty. And today when I look at my husband, I have all the praise in my heart for the one who bestowed such wonderful qualities on him.

With a smile on her face and hopes in her heart she faced the struggle of her life, taught values to her kids, brought them up with protection, and gave them love. Resultant to her sacrifices, prayers and toughness both the children are achieving success in their respective field.

I admire her for not only giving birth to my soul mate but for she is one such woman of substance who is independent and living life on her own terms and conditions. She is the backbone of my family.

Relationships are developed with time, commitment, respect, care and acceptance without any prejudice. I share a very sweet and sour relationship with my mother in law. We are not arms in arms or melodramatic types. We respect each other’s opinions, share good and bad times together, supportive of decisions and choices, and help each other with daily chores. I have even learned cooking some scrumptious Punjabi delicacies from her.

She invested her entire life for well-being of children, raised them single handedly. It’s our turn now to be patient, give her time, support and lots of care. For being such a beautiful person I wish to de - stress my mother in law with hugs, happiness, smiles, care and of course with Parachute Advanced Aromatherapy Oil massage, which shall give her the much needed calmness and relaxing sensations.

With so much stress, anxiety, anger surrounding our life and engulfing our peace, why don’t we put in efforts to live in harmony, life gone by, days lived by shall never return.  Let’s step ahead leaving the shackles of ego behind and give our beloved mothers all the happiness as our existence and life is their gift to us.

I’m blogging about why my mother needs to de-stress with a Parachute Advansed Aromatherapy Oil massage for the #StressFreeMom activity at BlogAdda.
