Think different and select your educational institute with care

This is the age of fast paced competition. The kids now are far advanced then we were at our times. I got my first mobile phone at the age of 23. Things have changed now; my nephew of 3 years is very proficient in the use of smart phone.

The current generation is proactive and has great ability to learn new things. They just need counselling in right direction. But things are not that easy for them too as it may appear. Advancement has given rise to equally tough competition.  And going by the phrase ‘Survival of the fittest’, they have to think different and think big. They need to harness their skills at a much improvised way to carve their niche in this big world. For this it is important that they get required education.

The kids have good capabilities to dream and imagine beyond the boundaries, we should not limit their thought process.

5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Inherit College Education from your Parents
It is not necessary that children study from same institute where their elders completed education.

1)    Competition is tough and corporate requirement has changed a lot. They always look out for something different, something unique or something out of the box.
2)    Kids need refined skills, need to learn multitasking and something extra than the regular syllabus.
3)    All round development is essential to keep mind in sync.
4)    Look out for courses you prefer or want to study, maybe there are not available everywhere.
5)    The scenario now is different. One should not follow the rat race; it’s time that we take right decision.

Good education which provides all round development is the keyword. A good college/university plays the most important role in development of intellectual potentials. Lately I came to know about LPU through a friend’s daughter who is studying in LPU.  I could see a glow of confidence on her face, she has changed for good.

Decision which we make now carries a lifelong impact.  Education effects the overall growth.  It is the time that we provide our kids encouragement and moral support to help them think smart. Have a look at this wonderful video –“Think Big”.

Keeping Calm

'The light is bright as I open my eyes'

“Roaring waves in the corner of my heart

The turmoil heavy tearing me apart

Thunderous lightening my mind imparts

Anger, melancholy is here to start

The tunnel is dense and expression tense

But the light is there as I open my eyes

As bright as stars, as glowing as smiles

I step ahead to travel miles

Separating the shells of arrogance and pride

Wearing the flowers of humility and kindness

Keeping calm with the sounds of sadness

Embarking my path of happiness and goodness”

Bridal Mehndi

The promises of heart
The thread of love
Union of souls
The blessings from heaven
The bond so strong
Companions forever”

Indian weddings are full of celebration and splendid display. It is like one such mega event in every body’s life. Catering, decor, wardrobe, gifts, guests are looked after with utmost details and care. The bride and the groom are apple of everyone’s eye. Their personal grooming is one thing that is also taken care of with much precision. Weddings are the time to get pampered and feel special. And one thing that cannot at all be ignored is the bridal mehndiIt comes in various styles and designs these days. My personal favorite is the Arabic Mehndi.

Almost a year back I went for my friend’s wedding in Goa, it was a destination wedding. It was going to be a week-long celebration.  Having helped my friend with all the bridal packing, finally the day arrived when we had to fly to Goa. I was super excited as it was my friend’s wedding, and for the first time I was attending a wedding in Goa.

Taking care of all the details and the booking, the one thing we all had missed was mehndi. And it was going to be a tough job finding an expert in Goa who would apply mehndi. The search began and we went to the best beauty salons to find one. At the end of the day though we selected a specialist with best mehandi design but she was already booked for some ladies kitty party. She agreed to send her junior for our function, but it would not be up to the mark. We group of friends decided to request the kitty party ladies if they could help us by sending the specialist for the bride. Contrary to our apprehensions they willingly agreed.

Ceremonies begun and the mehndi night was super fun, a relative of my friend applied some very amazing mehndi design on other ladies and the bridal mehndi was by the specialist. It looked very beautiful. That night I saw a special charm on the face of bride. She glowed like never before. It was probably the bridal glow mixed with the blessed colors of mehandi.

Mehndi for a bride brings along special sentiments and feelings. Mehndi along with being medicinal also is the harbinger of love and romance between the newly wed. It’s fragrance when combined with lemon and clove acts as an aphrodisiac.  Divine are our rituals and blessed are the solemn ties of marriage.

Education / Child labor

(Pic Courtesy - Here

Pretty hand as soft as feather
Tiny feet as good as smiles
Twinkling eyes with dreams so high
My heart with hopes as true as love
Desires, energies to do some good
To hold the pen to scribble the book
To know the history for a better now
To learn, to grow and develop potential

But…..

Here I face the adversity of time

The shackles of poverty
And here I am

My hand smothered with dust and ash
My feet burnt and bruised so deep
My eyes in tears, I could barely see
Dumped desires and energy no more
I hold the mop and scribble on floor
My present is smudged and future is dark
Should I learn to accept this morbid reality?
“Or is the angel coming my way, to re kindle the flames of faith and belief?”

This short poem is dedicated to child labor, something very close to my heart. It pains to see small kids going on the wrong path, encouraged to begging, petty thefts due to lack of education and right guidance. Sight of a kid washing utensils, mopping and doing all sorts of labor instead of going to school is utterly unacceptable.

I am yearning to do something, in this field if you guys have any ideas or suggestions please share.

Depression in pregnancy

It is a complete joy and bliss to be able to give birth to a child – ‘your progeny’. This is one of the happiest moments in the life of women. Motherhood is a supreme delight. This entire process of nature is miraculous. The beautiful journey and wondrous experience of those nine months is unexplainable and incomparable.  But the same is not true for many women. Sometimes the sudden rise and fall of certain hormones may cause a lot of physical and emotional upheaval.

Confirmation of pregnancy came as a sweet surprise for my close friend ‘Rashmi, she was on cloud nine. She had been trying to conceive since last five years. But as the days passed she faced some extreme mood swings. Gradually she became more anxious which resulted in sleeplessness. Considering it to be a momentary phase due to hormonal imbalance she was asked to bear the same and keep up the courage as these episodes shall soon pass. Her condition deteriorated in the last trimester and doctor had to do a Caesarean delivery, her child was born premature. Her depression took a long time to get cured.

Depression during pregnancy is very troublesome for the mother as well as for the growth of fetus. Depression screening for pregnant ladies is very essential as we are living in the times of extreme stressful circumstances. Career, household work, strained relationships, workplace competition etc are indeed very taxing and demanding. A very good maternity care is absolutely necessary.

Some common symptoms of depression during pregnancy:-
  • Less interest in activities you usually enjoy,
  • Unexplained sadness and anxiety,
  • Insomnia or increased sleepiness
  • Persistent thoughts of hopelessness and worthlessness,
  • Some may even have thoughts of suicide or death.
What to do during such times:-
  • Talk to your doctor whenever you encounter any such symptom,
  • Do not miss any of the antenatal health check up,
  • Never take any medication without the consent of your doctor,
  • Take support of family members, friends or join support groups,
  • Do Mild exercise, join hobby classes or activities you like (But talk to your doctor before any physical task you undertake),
  • Go for Counseling sessions,
  • Take adequate rest, sleep and a healthy diet,
  • As the days pass talk to your baby, try bonding with him, listen happy music.

Woman, enjoy to the most this beautiful phase of life when a new life is thriving inside you. Isn’t it precious? Do not suffer in silence any of these annoying symptoms. Communicate, smile, be in peace, eat healthy and with a happy heart welcome the newborn.
