Anger and Disaster

Residing in one of the most crowded localities in Delhi the one thing I witness daily are the incidence of road rage. People honk nonstop, full of stress, in to unnecessary hurry. Traffic rules are kept at bay and what all follow is shouting and screaming, speeding their way to work. And if your life is saved surviving this mad rush then just remember the idiom- ‘Jako rakhe saiyan, maar sake na koi’.

Almost a week back a young boy into early teens was badly injured riding a speedy motor cycle suffered multiple fractures. Are his parents responsible of letting him ride bike at this young age and that too without helmet?  Who is at fault for this incidence? We all know the answers, we all know the repercussions of negligence, but still we allow it to happen.  Why?

Referring to the recent incidence of road rage in Delhi where a man was beaten to death in front of his children at Central Delhi’s Turkman Gate on some argument over plain collision. And now we can hear the disappointed brother of victim pleading the nation through radio that no matter who is at fault, it’s better to say sorry with folded hands during any such incident of road rage.

Anger is eating up our sanity. We are left with no amount of patience. We have moved from ‘bad’ to ‘worse’ and marching ahead towards ‘worst’. We need to put a stop to this lunacy. We need stability in our lives. And that we can achieve by observing time management, compassion and empathy.

We are busy making our life better, working hard day and night to ‘purchase’ happiness. Family moments are left at the mercy of festivals or sometimes family functions. With more rising culture of nuclear families our children rarely recognize members of extended family. We are losing the touch of nearness and dearness.

Take a lesson from the recent calamity of Earthquake that had hit Nepal.  This one such moment of truth that left us helpless. So many died and so died with them their tales of hope and faith, so many stories died untold, remained unsung is their song of happiness, their melodies of life rest in peace now. It took just a moment to devastate everything.

Why for our entire life we keep on waiting for that one perfect moment to share our thoughts, in fact every moment we get is a gift of God and definitely a perfect moment. Grab it before it’s too late.

  1. You have covered many subjects in a single post.Your angush at the happenings is understandable.
Road rage is despicable and should put down with instant cancellation of licence and even jail terms. There should be deterrent punishment when law is taken in one's won hands

    1. Corruption in our land is so deep rooted that makes shortcuts to law and order possible. We the people are responsible for this state.
It requires effort on everybody's part to bring that much needed change.
      Feeling Hopeful. :-)

  3. Very true, Swati. I was shocked to read that case of road rage where the father was beaten to death. Even more shocking was the apathy of the policemen who did nothing to help. I think our frustrations are becoming huge along with the sad state of traffic which is a recipe for disaster on the roads. Indeed, each moment must be treasured and cherished.

    1. Traffic is indeed become like a mess. Though many remedies are available to curb it but we lack in willingness and are not ready to put in efforts.
Life has become so unpredictable, we don't know what the next moment holds for us. Love, care and share joy each moment.

  4. Such incidents are rather increasing - the case of beating up and abuse have become very common - there is too much carelessness on the roads, anger and lack of concern for the others. It is like people are waiting to get angry about anything and everything.

    1. Exactly Teny, Anger is eating us up. We all realize it but still not ready to accept it. We remain busy in fault finding.rather acceptance and moving on happily should be our motto, Holding grudges will lead us no where.

  5. I feel sorry to what we are reduced to. Greed, race, comparison; all these things have made us bitter. We must try to achieve inner peace and accept what we have, and make the best use of it. Sorry to read those road rage incidents in Delhi.

  6. Rightly said Swati, Anger is cause for everything. It has an ability to project a good heart into an extremely bad one. It can also lead to so many problems. I think this attitude change is mainly because of the education. Where is our Moral Science that we learnt in schools. Is it still taught?

Beautiful and a timely post Swati.

    1. In this faced paced life very few bothers to implement moral science lessons in actual life. Things would be wonderful if we all vow to lead a life of values.
Thanks for visiting and reading the post.
      Warm wishes.
