Weekend trip to Nainital & Corbett National Park

“The mountains green, the air is clean
The flowers blooms, and the nature looms, the thread of love, entwined around the luminous waves of the centered lake,
Like a necklace around, the beauty crowned.
View is breathtaking & the hues captivating.
Lovers paradise is the lake city of Nainital”

This Valentine weekend which was also our second marriage anniversary, we planned a trip to Lake City of Nainital & Corbett national park on road from Delhi.
Starting our journey on early dawn of 13th  February, we reached Nainital by the noon. In much need of some rest after the zigzag uphill journey we headed straight to our Hotel- The Palace Belvedere. After a short nap and a scrumptious lunch at the hotel we moved out for sight-seeing.
Being near from our hotel rope way was our first location to catch glimpse of magnificent mountains of Nainital.

The Naini Lake is like a glittering jewel of Nainital.

Later we visited Naina Devi temple located nearby Naini Lake holds great historical significance.

Our day came to an end with a stroll on Mall road which had shops selling beautiful candles and artifacts.
On day 2 we proceeded to Jim Corbett National Park, but visited some memorable sights on way, one of which was Eco Cave Garden- A network of interconnected rocky caves.

Having reached Corbett late dusk of 14th Feb, we went to our hotel Country Inn. Surrounded by forest it had a great ambience. We enjoyed music by the bonfire, relished our dinner and went to slumber.

The next day we went to the early morning safari. Our forest permits were booked online well in advance.
We entered the Jhirna Zone of Corbett in a Jeep. It was thrilling to be in the Tiger territory. The forest was quite with awesome views, chirping bird, golden sunrise, and the wilderness of forest added to our zest.

Having returned from there, our second safari was in the canter to the Dhikala Zone. Dhangadi Gate is the entry point of Dhikala Zone. It is surrounded by the River, various water bodies; it offers panoramic view to dense and diversified flora and fauna.

We spotted monkeys, wild elephants, Deer, Crocodile, Hog Deer, Sambar Deer, and Jackals etc.

Though we missed viewing the ‘Tiger’ as rightly said by our guide ‘Its luck by chance’.

“A wild cat styled in stripes
The Corbett king with the orbit wide
This fiery eyed is the felid pride”

Capturing the captivating charm of the forest, taking with us the assorted memories we made our way back to our homeland Delhi with a promise in our hearts to walk this trail again.
