A Life Full of Colours

This post is a part of Write Over the Weekend, an initiative for Indian Bloggers by BlogAdda.

India is land of diverse culture & tradition. We celebrate festivals with lots of faith and enthusiasm overlooking the boundaries created in the name of religion.  It’s the time to keep aside the burdens of stress and monotonous daily chores.

The festival of Holi is considered to be one of the most colourful and vibrant one.  It brings into our life colours of new hope, love, warmth, creativity, productivity.

1.    Holi celebration starts with Holika bonfire on the night before Holi. People pray, sing, dance rejoice during the pious bonfire. The significance of bonfire is victory of good over evil. It is the gentle reminder that whatever may be the situation around, ultimately truth & good things win.

2.    Holi is the festival of eternal love. Symbolic to love of Radha Krishna and the Gopis. In Mathura and Vrindavan, it is celebrated with much fervor.

3.    The festival of Holi also marks the commencement of Spring, when the winter season ends and warmth spreads around ensuring good harvest and fertility.

4.    Playing with colours is eagerly awaited upon, it is celebrated the next day of Holika bonfire, people gather and colour their loved ones with gulal (coloured powder), spraying wet colours, singing songs and dancing.

5.    Holi brings in lots of delicacies to relish upon like Gujiya, Malpua, Dahi Bhalle, Thandai, Bhang Ke Pakore, Puran Poli.

6.    And best of all these like any other festival is the closeness, fellowship, all the family members come from different corners of the world  to celebrate togetherness.

The festival gives us so much of chance to be with our loved ones and celebrate the companionship. They carry an important spiritual as well as historical significance, they teach us values, purity, nobility, integrity, honesty.

Do we bother to extend ourselves, learn and imbibe the virtues these festivals signify?
The answer is a big no. Taking into account the recent incidence of documentary on Indian Daughters with various views came up on its ban and pros and cons of releasing it, we are ready to fight, argue and debate endless on such topics, forgetting that crime on its first place needs to be sternly taken care off. Stopping the brutalities is of immediate concern and if the demons & devils are much restless to show off their callous, ruthless, savage and ferocious colors then the judiciary, law, without the second thought should show the colours of justice. There should be no place for harboring crimes and criminals. The law makers should be quick with execution. Analyzing the present trends of issues in our nation we have more the shades of grey.

When will the time come when we get to witness the real triumph of good over evil?

It will come, when we introspect and evaluate ourselves and burn away all the evil we carry inside our heart. If we do so our own life will get filled with various colours of peace, prosperity, honesty and happiness. Only then we can hold our head high and say with proud ‘A LIFE FULL OF COLORS’.
